Hypertension case-finding service
The Hypertension case-finding service was commissioned as an Advanced service from 1st October 2021.
In public-facing communications, the service is described as the NHS Blood Pressure Check Service.
Please note, CPE’s page has been updated to reflect the service requirements from 1st December 2023; please see their news story for further details.
From 1st December 2023, the service should be provided by suitably trained and competent pharmacy staff. On the CPE page, the term “pharmacy staff” will be used to denote pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other non-registered members of the pharmacy team.

Publicity campaign launched 11th March 2024:
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), launched an NHS campaign to encourage members of the public who could be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure to get their blood pressure checked at a participating pharmacy.
Pharmacies can order a free printed pharmacy campaign pack from the Campaign Resource Centre to promote and support the campaign.
In addition, DHSC has also advised that find a pharmacy cards and multicultural resources (TV, radio and social media content) are now available and can be ordered separately, in addition to the pharmacy toolkits.
