September 2024 update: The NEL ACT (Advice, Treatment and Contraception) service commissioned by North East Lincolnshire Council has been reviewed: a revised service specification, updated PGDs and uplifted fee structure has been agreed. The updated service can be delivered by both registered pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians working under the new updated Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

The previous service specification has now been superseded: Pharmacies wishing to provide the ACT (EHC) service MUST sign up to the new revised service with the updated fee structure: pharmacies can choose to provide either the ACT service, the C-Card service or both options.

Option 1: (Advice, Contraception and Treatment ( ACT))
• Emergency hormone contraception, Provision of Chlamydia testing kits, Pregnancy testing

Option 2 (C-Card)
• Condom C-card scheme.

If your pharmacy is interested in providing the new ACT service, the C-card service or both, please contact us on the email below and we will provide you with the commissioner contact details.

If you require a copy of the Service Specification or Service Contract, please contact humber.lpc@nhs.net to request a copy.

If you have already signed a contract to provide either or both services please see further information below:

Please note most service specification documents and PDGs are hosted and downloadable from the NEW PharmOutcomes Service platforms.

NOTE REGISTERED PHARMACY TECHNICIANS CAN ONLY PROVIDE EHC VIA PGD WHEN SIGNED UP TO THE NEW ACT SERVICE AND WORKING UNDER THE NEW PGDS.

Training:

The service must be delivered by a pharmacist or registered pharmacy technician who has completed the CPPE Declaration of Competency self-assessment framework for Emergency contraception (https://www.cppe.ac.uk/services/declaration-of-competence2?srv=1#doc) and must be recorded on the PharmOutcomes platform.

PGDs:

Updated PGD’s are embedded in the revised service specification contract document and are also available to download and print from the new PharmOutcomes ACT EHC platform.
