Formal Expression of Interest – Provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) under PGD from North Lincolnshire Community Pharmacies:
To all North Lincolnshire Pharmacies.
In July 2024, North Lincolnshire pharmacies were invited to express an interest in providing a locally commissioned EHC service to North Lincolnshire women aged between 13-19 years (or up to 25 years where a special educational needs statement is in place). Thank you to all pharmacies who responded.
A suitable service fee structure has now been agreed between Humber LPC and the service commissioner Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust.
This service can be provided by registered healthcare professionals listed in the legislation as able to practice under Patient Group Directions.
The commissioner would now like to invite pharmacies to formally express their interest in providing this service by completing and submitting their Expression of Interest Form via email to licb.lchscontracts@nhs.net.
It is anticipated that the service will launch during November 2024.
Training:
The service must be delivered by a pharmacist or registered pharmacy technician who has completed their CPPE Declaration of Competency self-assessment framework for Emergency contraception (https://www.cppe.ac.uk/services/declaration-of-competence2?srv=1#doc) and must be recorded on the PharmOutcomes platform.
PGDs:
PGDs will be shared directly with pharmacies by the commissioner.
Copies of the signed PGDs must be retained within the pharmacy and be available for inspection if requested. Pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians providing EHC via PGD across a number of pharmacies must sign the PGD at each pharmacy where they deliver the service.
