Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES)
(Formerly Community Ophthalmic Referral Scheme CORRS)
The Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES) contract (formerly CORRS) provided by Primary Eyecare (North Yorkshire and Humber) Ltd offers urgent assessment, treatment or referral for sudden onset eye problems such as flashes, floaters, vision loss or minor eye injuries.
Hull & ERoY:

North & North East Lincs:
NL & NEL patients can access the service via the Primary Eyecare Services website who deliver CUES in North East and North Lincolnshire, click the link to find out more: Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES).
Patients wishing to use the CUES service should call the providers as advised above.

Symptoms
Patients suffering with one or more of the following symptoms can be seen for treatment, advice, or onward referral as necessary:
- Dry eye (lasting longer than 2 weeks after seeing a pharmacist and trying home treatments)
- Red eye with pain
- Photophobia
- Painful eye
- Flashes and new floaters
- Blurry vision
- Diplopia
- Distorted vision
- Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
- Symptomatic field loss
- Flashes and floaters
- In growing eyelash(es)
- Non-penetrating foreign body
To use this service free of charge patients must be registered with a Hull, East Riding, NL, or NEL GP and have one of the above eye problems. Patients do not need to register with the selected Opticians.
Patients can self-refer without a visit to their GP by calling an optician included in the above list above for Hull/ERoY or visiting the website for NL/NEL.
GPs and pharmacists may also refer patients to the scheme.
Routine optical check-ups will often pick up any causes for concern, but painful and irritating symptoms or sudden changes to vision should be investigated as an emergency.
Patients suffering with the above symptoms can contact one of the opticians to be seen as part of CUES, they can contact either a Hull or East Riding optician.
The service is available 5 days per week and an appointment should be offered within 2 working days. This standard does not apply to patients with suspected glaucoma who require repeat pressures; these patients should be seen in accordance with NICE guidelines i.e. within 14 days.
