Flu Vaccination Service 2020/21 ends today

The national community pharmacy Flu Vaccination Service 2020/21 finishes today (31st March 2021). Community pharmacy contractors are therefore reminded not to administer any further vaccinations under this service after today.

Claims will be accepted by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) via their Manage Your Service (MYS) platform within six months of administration of the vaccination or by 31st August 2021, whichever date is earlier, in accordance with the usual Drug Tariff claims process. Later claims will not be processed.

Update on 2021/22 flu vaccine ordering

NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) reported in its Primary Care Bulletin last week that people aged 50 to 64 years old are expected to be included as an eligible cohort for the 2021/22 flu vaccination season. The flu vaccination reimbursement letter issued earlier this year is currently being updated to reflect the inclusion of the cohort and will be republished imminently.

NHSE&I have asked contractors to await the updated flu reimbursement letter for more information, before amending their orders for vaccine.
